The Boxy’s timeline...in a nutshell.
Three years before Boxy’s officially formed, Head Chef Debbie Braun operated a food truck for owner and operator Jade Boklaschuk called Hot Doggin. Together, they worked the streets of Saskatoon and set up shop at events and festivals across Saskatchewan. Their focus at the time was “Big Food”, defined by generous portions and delicious homemade toppings for our gourmet Doggs.
When the opportunity arose to open a Sask restaurant along highway 11 in Rosthern, we decided to expand our menu while maintaining the same values we had with our food truck. Boxy’s was officially born! Our burgers are served “rink style”, with the patties being marinated in our homemade BBQ sauce. This flavoring ideal has been going on at rinks and sports facility kitchens across the province for decades. This was of passionate importance to our owner Jade, as he grew up in the rinks across Saskatchewan, eating these foods regularly.
We continued to emphasize the “Big Food” concept and incorporated our fresh homemade toppings philosophy. We also decided to add the nostalgic small town “rink food” sentiment that everyone in Saskatchewan has experienced at some point in their lives. In his own words: “There is a comforting feeling for a lot of people that brings back great memories with our style of food…not to mention it is delicious!”
Our Food Policy
We cook all our food fresh to order and allow our cutomers to choose their own toppings on most of our items. This is a vastly different approach from most fast food chains who precook all their food and have it sitting in cardboard boxes inside warmers, sometimes even for hours. We focus on maintaing high quality dishes with satisfying portions to keep our customers coming back for more.

Debbie is the brains behind our menu at Boxy’s and is the main reason the restaurant runs as smooth as it does. Deb is a family women as well, with multiple children and grandchildren who she loves dearly.
